TakoFest: Kite Making (VI-VIII)

Takofest, an inter-House kite-making competition for Classes VI-VIII, drew inspiration from Japan’s traditional Takomatsuri. Devil’s Advocate: Turncoat (VI-VIII)

Lively arguments and quick-thinking filled the auditorium on 16 October 2024, when the much-anticipated inter-house competition, Devil’s Advocate: Turncoat Debate took place.This event tested not only the participants’ debating skills but also their ability to switch sides at a moment’s notice, challenging their wit and adaptability. The motions debated  by the participants included “Should zoos be banned?” and “Should the voting age be lowered to 16?”. The speakers  showcased their skills, with compelling arguments and smooth transitions. The event concluded with Shanti placing first and Ekta placing second. History Comes Alive for  Class VIII Students at Red Fort’s Sound & Light Show

On 9 November 2024, 88 students from Class VIII, accompanied by 10 teachers, attended the remarkable son-et-lumiere show at the Red Fort. This unique sound and light production,  against the majestic backdrop of the iconic Nahabat Khana, Diwan –e Aam and Diwan –e Khas, featuring live actors, music and dance combined with state-of-the-art digital art technology, brings India’s history to life in a vivid spectacle. The one-hour show unfolded in three parts, covering iconic episodes, from Shah Jahan’s troubled rule, the rise of the Marathas, the 1857 War of Independence to the struggles of the Indian National Army. Students were captivated by portrayals of the Mughal emperors, and more recent leaders like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Jawaharlal Nehru. The experience concluded with the national anthem, evoking a deep sense of national pride. The immersive show offered students an engaging look at India’s cultural legacy, reinforcing the school’s commitment to learning beyond textbooks.

Persona Parade – An Intra-Class Competition for class KG (October 2024)

On 18 October 2024, the ‘Persona Parade’ intra-class competition for Kindergarten offered young students the opportunity to proudly display their creativity by portraying their favorite cartoon characters. Adorned in vibrant costumes, they enthusiastically brought to life beloved figures such as Peppa Pig, Batman, Doraemon, and Elsa. The event encouraged imagination and boosted confidence as the children entertained their peers with dynamic performances. Filled with cheer, applause, and excitement, the competition was a truly memorable experience for both the budding performers and their audience. Build-a-Thon – An Intra Class Competition for Class V  (October 2024)

On 18 October 2024, the students of Class V  participated in the exciting ‘Build-a-Thon: Sustainable Model Designing’ competition. This engaging activity encouraged students to work in pairs to design eco-friendly models, focusing on crucial environmental concepts such as CO2 removal through clean energy, smart city designs, hydroponics, aquaculture, solar energy harvesting, and rainwater harvesting techniques. Using recycled materials, the young innovators crafted their models, which were then evaluated on creativity, teamwork, sustainability impact, and presentation skills. The competition not only fostered creativity but also deepened students’ understanding of real-world environmental issues and solutions, helping shape future change. Product Bingo – An Intra Class Competition for Class IV (October 2024)

On 18 October 2024, Class IV students participated in the Intra-Class Brochure Making Competition on “My Vision of a Sustainable City.” Students enthusiastically designed four-panel brochures on A4 sheets, creatively presenting their ideas for sustainable urban living. Focusing on key areas such as Transport, Communication, Infrastructure, and Cleanliness (Waste Management), they used cutouts, pictures, and written content to express their unique visions. This activity highlighted students’ awareness and creativity, as they showcased impressive insights into urban sustainability. The event successfully fostered innovation and environmental awareness, motivating students to think critically about building a greener future. The enjoyable event allowed students  to showcase their artistic flair by crafting intricate rangoli designs. What made this competition truly unique was its innovative twist—students integrated mathematical patterns and shapes into their designs, blending culture with academics. This hands-on activity encouraged the children to explore geometry in a fun and creative way, making the event not only a celebration of art but also a learning experience. Themed “Tangy Treats,” the event featured delightful dishes such as Corn Chaat, Peanut Chaat, and Bhel Puri. Students independently prepared their recipes, showcasing their culinary skills while emphasizing hygiene with aprons, chef caps, and table mats. Creativity was on full display, with students presenting their unique recipes in a beautifully organized manner. The event not only fostered culinary skills but also boosted confidence and enthusiasm among the young participants and left everyone impressed by the students’ creativity and presentation. Developing Critical Thinking with De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats

Class VIII students participated in an engaging critical thinking activity during their English class using Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats method. The exercise required students to analyze a topic from multiple perspectives by “wearing” different hats symbolizing distinct thinking styles: factual, emotional, critical, optimistic, creative, and process-oriented. This structured approach helped students to refine their reasoning skills while fostering teamwork and effective communication. By encouraging them to consider all angles of a discussion, the activity promoted a deeper understanding of the subject matter. It was a rewarding experience that inspired collaborative and broadened thinking.
