KVRSS SPARK Innovation Awards-2023

Fostering  a spirit of scientific enquiry and promoting innovation is not only one of the key thrust areas of the NEP but also recognised as an important aspect of 21st century skills. Our students of Class XII, Aishani Singh, Jasmyra Kaur Sahni ,Siddharth Voleti and Manhaar Ahuja  presented their innovative ideas in the 12th SPARK KVRSS,Innovation  event held at Hyderabad on 08 April 2023 after their projects were selected for the final round. Students also had the privilege of interacting  with eminent scientist Dr. N Madhusudan Rao (Centre of Cell and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad) and enjoyed the opportunity to try their hands at various scientific activities.
Out of the 35 selected projects at the national level, the project on optimization of E waste collection using linear programming, was selected as one of the best four in the math category. In  September it was announced that  this project has been selected for the Second Position. Congratulations to the team !
The deep experiential learning from such an experience is undoubtedly unique and  irreplaceable.

Recognition in Robotics

FLL (First Lego League) an international robotics competition, was held in Pune in March 2023.  There were more than 100 teams participating, with 12 international teams. This year’s theme was city shapers – look into issues and problems faced by people living in cities and find technology/ robotic solutions for them. Aahana Sawan of Class VIII  and her team Xtreme8 won the Presentation Category in this national level robotics FLL competition in the 9-14 yr category.

Aahana and her team Xtreme8 had been preparing for this event  for over two months. They did desk research, spoke with robotics experts in two countries, and with traffic personnel in Delhi. Their solution for endless traffic jams in Delhi was an enhanced traffic signal. In addition to the three light interface, the traffic signal would have additional features like LIDAR, weather sensor, traffic sensor etc. Connected cameras would provide real time information on traffic jumpers, pedestrian flow, accident detection etc. Winning this award at the National level is indeed a big boost for this robotics enthusiast. Well done Aahana !
