Best Business Video Award at tGELF/ JA India LEAD Company of the Year Competition 2022

tGELF (The Global Education & Leadership Foundation) has announced Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi and the students Smayan Gupta, Sakina Nadeem, Ivana Dhiman and Madhav Poddar of Class XI as the winners of  the Best Business Video Award in the tGELF/ JA India LEAD Company of the Year Competition 2022 – a part of Harmony ESG Youth.  Their project for the  Youth Entrepreneur Business Challenge was called  ’Leathervation Ltd’ which was selected as one of the the national finalists in the tGELF/ JA India LEAD Company of the Year Competition (CoYC) 2022. The competition is not simply a business competition for young people.  The goal is to balance the business achievements of each company as a whole with the personal development of each individual member.  tGELF/JA companies participating in the competition appear before a panel of independent judges who determine company performance against the competition criteria. The tGELF Program Coordinator wrote – ‘Many Congratulations for your student company’s exemplary ideas and innovation. We are pleased to announce that this year’s event was a great success and this was made possible because of the effort and hard work of the students and teachers. At the young age of 11, Abeer Bhardwaj of Class VI is an author, musician, programmer and theatre artist.

He is the youngest published author of juvenile fiction in India.  Abeer started writing his first book at the tender age of 8 and finished it by the time he was  9. Because of  the pandemic, his book took two extra years to publish. Deputy CM and Education Minister of Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia met Abeer personally and praised his achievement in the field of literature at such a young age. The Hon’ble Minister also wrote a foreword for the book. Within 24 hours of its launch on Amazon Abeer’s book, went out of stock and earned a #6 spot in the coveted Amazon Top Ten selling books in the Children Mysteries category. It also earned the #1 spot in the hot new releases section of Amazon. Abeer received an Amazon best-seller book badge from Amazon. 

Along with his passion for literature, Abeer has a deep interest in music and he has been learning Hindustani classical vocal for the last five years. He is also one of the youngest to finish his Visharad degree in Hindustani Vocals from Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad. Abeer has performed at various prestigious events like the opening ceremony of the 6th V.K Pahuja Theatre Festival, presented classical vocal at the Delhi Gharana Festival and multiple other school and inter-school events. Abeer has won numerous awards for his singing. 

Abeer has also performed with esteemed theatre groups like the United Progressive Theatre association in theatre festivals in lead roles. One of his performances was in  a theatre show called “Daroga Ji Chori Ho Gayi” where his performance was appreciated by well known actors. Abeer also owns a YouTube channel by the name “AbeerTheWonderKid” where he talks about socio-political subjects and music.

Senior Boys Football Team win the CBSE Cluster Championships 2022-23

This was a closely fought tournament  with 120 teams competing in four groups, and only four of those teams qualified for the semi-final. These qualifying teams were Army Public School Dhaula Kuan, Modern School Barakhamba,  General Raj’s School Hauz Khas and Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar. Ably trained by Mr Parveen Kumar,  HOD of the Sports Faculty, the 19 boys in the team were ready to give their best. The final match was played between Modern School Barakhamba and TIS, VV , with Tagore International being declared the winner of the tournament. With this, they qualified for the CBSE National Football Tournament  which is scheduled to take place in Rajasthan in  January 2023.

The team  also won the Delhi State Football championship in the Under 19 category, playing against 28 other zones to do so. Nitin Ekka of Class XI scored three goals in the final match against Mamta Modern School Vikaspuri.

TIS,VV Wins at Itihaas Anveshan Choir 2022 - the Seventh Time in a Row

Tagore International School , Vasant Vihar continued its winning streak at Itihaas Anveshan Choir 2022 (an  All India Music Competition) for the seventh time in a row. The senior team of 25 students from Classes IX to XII were declared winners in the Udgaar category  and the junior team of 25 students from Classes III to V were declared runners up in the Cheshta category.
Anveshan is the largest original music competition for school going children in the country. 
Around 500 schools from all over India participated in Anveshan 2022 and around 10 teams from each category were selected to sing live at the Finals which was held on 16 December, 2022 at Sunder Nursery, New Delhi. This year the theme was a self composed original song on any city of India . The junior team was applauded for its well researched song on Indore. The senior team  was appreciated for its lyrics and music for its song on Varanasi .Tagoreans were also praised for their amazing crowd pulling ability. Parents , students and well-wishers came in large numbers to support their team.

Young Poets Felicitated

Siblings Kaashvi Mangal of Class VI and Kavish Mangal of Class IV have received the prestigious Rex Karmaveer Global Youth Fellowship Award at the Delhi Poetry Festival held at the India Habitat Centre. They were the finalists amongst the two rounds in the Poetry Writing Contest held by Delhi Poetry Festival in the year 2022. Each received two certificates and a medal and were applauded at the Delhi Poetry Fest.
It was a proud moment for the school when the two children were felicitated as well known poets and renowned personalities from the poetry circle were present. Both children emerged as inspirational poets and creative writing enthusiasts. Kaashvi Mangal was proud to present her book -The Curled Verses – yet again at the festival. ( Her book was earlier recognised in Hindustan Times )
Kaashvi and Kavish’s parents conveyed their sincere thanks to the school management, Principal and teachers for nurturing students so well to achieve these great milestones.

Sarthak Tripathi won Gold medal in CBSE Central Zone Skating Championship

Sarthak Tripathi of class III C received a Gold medal in CBSE Central Zone Skating Championship. He completed the 300 m time trial race in 35.52 seconds.

Rakshit Tokas won a silver medal in Delhi State U-17, 90 kg Boys Judo Championship

Rakshit Tokas of Class XI A won a silver medal in U -17 -90kg Delhi State Judo Championship.

Akshita Singh bagged the first position in the U-18 category in Epee weapon

The Delhi State Fencing Championship was held in Venkateshwar Global School, Rohini on 26 November 2022, Akshita Singh of Class XII B bagged the first position in the U-18 category in Epee weapon. Congratulations Akshita !

Rakshit Tokas won a gold medal in U -17 -90kg CBSE National Judo Championship

Rakshit Tokas of Class XI A won a gold medal in U -17 -90kg CBSE National Judo Championship and has been  selected for the nationals. Proud of you, Rakshit !

AWIM – Jet Toy and Skimmer Competition

TIS students participated in A World In Motion – Jet toy and Skimmer Regional Olympics 2022 which was held on 17  November 2022 at ICAT Centre, Manesar, Haryana. A total of 60 teams from Delhi and NCR participated in this event (Jet Toy & Skimmer). Our school was declared the overall winner of the Jet Toy event from Zone One. Ably guided by the team of teachers (Geeta Gosain, Nidhi Sood, Neetu Swarnakar and Kalpana Das)  our students of Class V (Aditi Ranjan, Arshiya Rajput ,Tejas Verma,Aarohi Bhowmik)  and Class VI (Faith R Chongthu, Sin Jhih Nie , Ayush  Mishra, Moksh Malhotra)  also won ‘Best Time’ and ‘Best Speed’ category awards in the Jet Toy track events. In the Skimmer category they were declared Second Runner Up and also won the category award for Best Presentation. The team will be representing the Delhi region in the National Olympics in Pune in January 2023.

Ayush Yadav Selected to Represent the District in Basketball

Our Student Arush Yadav of Class X secured the third place in the Delhi State Youth Under 16 Basketball Championship 2022-23. He was selected to represent the district and was part of the New Delhi District team .

Aks Amol Solanke won the third prize in the National Astronomy Challenge 2021

Aks Amol Solanke of Class IX  has won the third prize in the National Astronomy Challenge 2021, an international competition held across the Middle East and India. He received A CKC Club Membership of Cosmic Kids Club. He had secured 1st rank in the National Astronomy Challenge 2019 and gone  to Dubai for the felicitation ceremony.

Winners of World Scholars Challenge

We take pride in mentioning that our school team of Tia Banerjee, Lalnunkimi and Pratyush Saini participated in the World Scholars Challenge and brought many laurels to the school. There were 60 teams and  approximately 180-200 students who participated in this challenge. Our team won the Gold Medal for 9th ranking as Overall Best team and  silver medal for the  7th best team in the  Scholar’s Challenge. In the Individual  Debate category Tia Banerjee of Class XI won gold medal with  (24th rank), Lalnunkimi Hnamte of Class X , gold medal with 42nd rank and Pratyush Saini of class XII  also won gold medal  with 68th rank.

All three of them won gold and silver medals in Individual Writing Skills and Subject specific categories.

In the Scholar’s Bowl category they won the  Gold medal for the 18th best team. Our team was judged the 10th best team in the Team Debate and Collaborative writing  securing a  gold medal.

Lalnunkimi and Tia received gold medals for 7th and 23rd  best scholar in Overall individual ranking. Pratyush Saini received a silver medal as 31st best scholar.

Our Budding Poets

Taking the lead and putting out their world through words, our two students, Aydin Abeer Uddin of class II and Kashvi Mangal of class VI have published their poem books namely “My Fab Tales: A Glimpse of My Tiny Perfect World” and “The Curled Verses”. Aydin and Kashvi are enthusiastic readers and love to read. It’s their first attempt at penning their thoughts and words and coming up with great poems about their day-to-day life and things that concern them.

Winner at 16th South Delhi District Athletic Championship

16th South Delhi District Athletic Championship was organised on 15 Nov 2018 at JLN Stadium.Out of 37 prestigious schools of South Delhi our school bagged the First  position with 4 Gold 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medal.

Rushil Sinha Shines in National Painting Competition

Every year, Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India, PCRA conducts  ‘Saksham National  Competition’ for school children, to raise awareness on the importance of fuel conservation and environmental protection.It’s a matter of immense pride that  Rushil Sinha,  of Class  IX  is  one of the top 50 students of our state in the PCRA “SAKSHAM” National Painting Competition 2022. She has been rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 4000.

Winner of International Debating League

The results of International Debating League 2022 were announced in which 4000 students from 15 countries participated. LalnunKimi of Class X was adjudged the Global winner in the 9-12 category. She has been awarded USD 75 and certificate of excellence for her achievement. The judges were really impressed with her clarity of thoughts and debating skills, Congratulations to LalnunKimi.

Tennis ball U19 national selection

Janamejay Pratap Singh of class XI D has been selected as a part of the state team to represent Delhi at the 30th Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship 22-23 (Under 19) to be held at Haridwar from 21 st to 24 September 2022.

Cricket U19 selection

Aryan Chawla of class XII C participated in U 19 Cricket Boys Zonals. His outstanding performance ensured his selection in the Zone 20 U19 Cricket team. He will be representing the zone in the inter zonal tournament later this year.

Football U19 Zonal Winners

The school’s senior football team participated in the CBSE Football U19 Zonals held at Army Public School , Delhi Cantt from 12-15 September 2022.
Out of 32 teams participating, our team won the Zonals and was declared the champion of Zone 20. Team members were Krrish Vikram Jain, Daksh Bhambani, Eashaan Tripathi, Gunamay Rakhyani, Keironjeet Chatterjee, Shaurya Gosain, Rudraksh Raghuvanshi, Armeet Singh Dhanju, Arnav Bahri, Nitin Ekka, Ayush Chauhan, Parth Bhatia, Satchit Joshi and Krishiv Wahi.

Terra Time secured third position in Youth for Earth campaign

Terra-time is a student led initiative mentored by  educators , aimed at achieving SDG 12: responsible consumption and production. 

From the months of April to August, terra-time made and collected numerous eco-bricks, made out of plastic waste, and used them to create furniture. It also conducted awareness drives about waste management, collected plastic waste, held workshops teaching children how to make eco-bricks, donated eco-brick furniture to the Samarpan school and helped an NGO to build a toilet out of eco-bricks.

Terra-time’s efforts were appreciated by The Climate Reality Project and the Mobius Foundation  and the project won the 3rd position in the Junior Category of the nation-wide Youth For Earth Campaign. The team was felicitated at the 4th international conference on sustainability education, held at Scope convention centre, New Delhi 

Kshitiz Upadhyay-National winner of Spelling Bee Hindi National Level Contest

We congratulate our students on their fantastic performace at the ISB Spelling Bee Hindi 21-22 National Level Contest. Our students have emerged as the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS from amongst many schools across India. Our school was awarded the BEST SCHOOL-OVERALL PERFORMANCE, DELHI. The award is based on various parameters like participation, coordination, preparation and performance of the students. Kshitiz Upadhyay of class X was the national winner in his category. He was awarded with a Tablet, a medal and certificate.

Parthivi Bhatia of class VII secured fourth position and Keisha Gupta of class VI seventh position in their respective categories.

Chiraayu Sharma and Harika Sharma won medals in South - West Zonal TaekwonDo Championship

Chiraayu Sharma of class IX and Harika Sharma of class VIII  have won medals in South – West Zonal Championship of TaekwonDo which was held at Bangalore in August. Chiraayu won one Gold, two Silver & one Bronze Medals and Harika  won two Gold & two Silver medals.

Tanvi Nandal won the Gold Medal in 10th cadet and Junior National Kurash Championship

After winning the  Asian  Children Games in Russia Tanvi Nandal of Class X has once again made our school proud by winning the gold medal in  10th cadet and Junior National Kurash Championship in category 63 kgs

Tisya Juneja was Runner Up in an all India Tennis Championship

Shantima Lawn Tennis Academy in Sonepat organised an all India tennis Championship series 7 Tournament for girls .Tisya Juneja of class X ranked 150th nationally and was the runner up in both under 16 and under 18 categories.

White Canvas India in collaboration with Brainfeed Magazine organized season 2 of ‘India’s 20 under 20’, to recognize talented youth below 20 years making an on ground Impact with their talent in 10 categories. The participants had to go through 3 rigorous rounds spread over 8 months starting from October 2021 until July 2022 to showcase their skills and were judged by industry leaders from different fields. From more than thousands of applicants from all over India, Lalnunkimi Hnamte of class X participated under the category of art and made it to the final top 20. She will be featured on the cover page of the limited edition book by Brainfeed magazine along with the other winners. We wish her the best. A special mention for Avaneesh Bhatnagar of class VIII for being recognized as special talent for his project on Cyber Security under the category of technology where he had showcased his skills and talent in enhancing cyber law services.

SOF  the world’s biggest organizer of Olympiad exams for school students, has organised Olympiads in different subjects for our school.

Neil Vikram Aggarwal of class IV won the SOF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP for 2021-22.  He has been awarded A trophy ,A Citation and Cash award of Rs 2500/ He won the gold medal in  national science and Cyber-Olympiad, and  

International Mathematics Olympiad.

Winners of India Spelling Bee 2021-22

India Spelling Bee 2021-22 was held amidst the pandemic and closure of schools. It was held in the ONLINE FORMAT and the school level winners and qualifiers of hundreds  of schools across the country competed in the Regional Finale and then the National Championship. Keisha Gupta was  the Ist Runner-Up in her category at National Level. Neil Vikram Aggarwal ranked as the state topper of his group at the Regional Level .

Naisha Ghosh winner of Silverzone Olympiads

Naisha Ghosh  of class VI participated in various categories of the Silverzone Olympiads  and secured 24th olympic rank in Informatics, 101st Olympic  rank in  Reasoning and Aptitude,124th in G.K. Olympiad .She has been awarded certificates and medals for the same.

Udamya Mishra and Siya Aneja were the finalists of India Science Festival's National Science Photography Competition, 'Science in Focus'

India Science Festival’s national science photography competition, ‘Science In Focus’, was organised for amateur photographers all over the country. The challenge was to convey a scientific concept through compelling visuals on the theme ‘Everyday Science.’ Siya Aneja of class XI and Udamya Mishra of class XII were the  finalists and  their photograph was amongst the 12 pictures exhibited at the eminent National Science Centre.

Winners of BioDiversity Council's Video Essay Competition 2022

A video essay competition was organized by the Delhi BioDiversity Council  and the Ministry of Forests (Delhi Government) and was open to all at a National level. TIS,VV made its presence felt in the face of stiff competition, with Khushi Seth of IX C winning a prize and Sakina Nadeem of X B getting a special mention. The awards were given out by Mr Nisheet Saxena, Chief Conservator of  Forests at the GNCT of Delhi on 05 June 2022. 

Saburi Chopra won the Just Right Kids Award

Saburi Chopra of class XII has won the Just Right Kids Award under the People’s Choice category, winning the 3rd position at the national level on 2 April for project Saksham. She has been awarded a cash prize and certificate for the same. She is one amongst the selected 3 national awardees, out of 1000 applications.

Saburi Chopra has lifted the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards 2022

Saburi Chopra of class XII has won a gold medallion, trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 3.5 lakhs in Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards 2022.  She has won this grand recognition for her work in Project Saksham which is to create inclusion for the intellectually challenged by constantly supporting, mentoring and honing their skills. She aims towards raising awareness about the inequalities faced by intellectually and physically challenged people. As the name suggests, Saksham means “Capable” and so is her aim to make every differently abled capable. Her regular workshops and mentoring sessions have helped differently abled sharpen their soft skills.
Mary Kom announced her as a National Honoree in today’s grand finale. thank you very much to everyone for your blessings and wishes.  they helped us win this recognition today which will motivate her to continue doing community service with more zeal.
