International Day of Persons with Disabilities Championing Inclusion, Inspiring Change

Project Saksham of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2024. The day is commemorated to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities across the social spectrum.  The event was graced by Dr. Sanjay Chaturvedi, the Deputy Director of Education (District South West A), Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi. The audience witnessed a soulful rendition by visually impaired students and the play ‘Ehsaas’ by Team Awaam, the theatre society of the school.  As a symbol of empowerment and opportunity, Dr Sanjay Chaturvedi, Chief Guest of the day, presented cycles to the meritorious students. Through his closing address, Dr. Chaturvedi inspired the students to continue to work towards inclusion. 

Celebrating Japan Week

Folding Traditions, Inspiring Creativity: Inter-School Origami Competition As the culmination of our on-going Japan Week events, the school was transformed into a vibrant showcase of Japanese artistry with its Inter-School Origami Competition. On 14 November 2024, participants across Delhi-NCR took on the challenge of intricate paper-folding, exploring themes like ‘Nature’s Wonders,’ ‘Cherry Blossom Festival,’ ‘Dragon Boat Race,’ ‘Famous Monuments,’ and ‘Fantasy Anime.’ Schools from across Delhi-NCR showcased their creativity, precision, and cultural awareness through impressive origami displays. The esteemed judges included Mr. Takashi Kobayashi from the JapanEmbassy, Mr. Teruyuki Hoshina from Japan Foundation, and Mrs. Ogonuki, wife of the Japanese School Principal. The competition highlighted the participants’ skills, with top honours awarded to students and teachers from Delhi Public School, Dwarka, St. George’s School Alaknanda, Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar, Springdales Dhaula Kuan, Sardar Patel, The Mother’s International and other prestigious schools.  Bridging Cultures Through Play: Japan Week Sports Event As part of the ongoing Japan Week , a unique sports event was organized in the school on 13 November 2024, showcasing traditional games from both Japan and India. Five schools from Delhi NCR participated in the event, celebrating a fusion of cultural heritage and athletic spirit. Students competed in games like Japan’s Kimari, Daruma San Ga Koronda and Sumo Wrestling, and India’s Gulli Danda and Pithoo, each representing teamwork, skill, and tradition. The event allowed participants to explore the roots of these traditional games, connecting students to cultural history through sports. Congratulations to all the schools that took part in this friendly competition, including Indraprastha International School, Lotus Valley Gurugram, General Raj’s School, and TIS, EOK for their impressive performances in these distinctive games.  Takofest and Manga Saga – Japan Week Continues On 12 November 2024, senior school students celebrated Japanese culture through two engaging inter-House events: Takofest and Manga Saga. Takofest, an inter-House kite-making competition for Classes VI-VIII, drew inspiration from Japan’s traditional Takomatsuri. With the theme ‘Cultural Harmony,’ students crafted kites adorned with symbols, colors, and motifs from diverse traditions, symbolizing unity in diversity.  Meanwhile, the Manga Saga competition invited students from Classes IX-XII to create a manga story of up to 10 pages in just two days. This challenge gave students an opportunity to dive into the art of manga, honing their storytelling, design, and drawing skills while embracing a central aspect of modern Japanese heritage. Both events showcased students’ competitiveness, creativity and passion, bringing the vibrancy of Japanese culture into the school community. Manga Saga – Japan Week On 12 November 2024, senior school students celebrated Japanese culture through  an engaging inter-House event: Manga Saga. The Manga Saga competition invited students from Classes IX-XII to create a manga story of up to 10 pages in just two days. Spreading the Message of Unity: Gurpurab Celebrations 2024

Gurpurab 2024 was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm across the school, immersing students in the beautiful teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The event began with a student reciting the Mool Mantra, setting a serene tone for the Prabhat Pheri across the school campus. A documentary on Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life was shared, imparting his timeless message of ‘One God’ and ‘eternal Truth,’ encouraging students to remember the divine in all aspects of life. Students also learned about the significance of langar and Guru Prasad, which symbolizes equality and community service. Many students contributed homemade Prashad, which was shared among classmates and staff, fostering a sense of togetherness and respect. The celebration was a memorable experience, uniting the school community in gratitude and reverence for Guru Nanak’s teachings. Respect for every faith is woven into the very fabric of TISVV !

Diwali Festivities Illuminate TISVV

On 25 October 2024, the school commemorated Diwali with a vibrant celebration. The program included soulful bhajan singing, an enchanting dance performance that brought alive the age-old story of Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya, and traditional decorations that illuminated the school. Students enjoyed a lively Diwali quiz that blended wit and wisdom, keeping spirits high. The highlight of the event was a diya-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, followed by an aarti led by teachers and the student council. Principal Ms. Jyotika Jakhar reminded everyone to carry the light of Diwali within themselves, fostering unity andpositivity. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets, creating lasting memories of joy and togetherness for all.

Lead On! 2024: Tomorrow’s Visionaries at Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar

On 19 October we proudly hosted Lead On! 2024, our 15th annual Leadership Summit, a dynamic platform where the leaders of tomorrow gathered to shape the future. Organized entirely by the school’s Student Council, this event has consistently brought together bright young minds from across Delhi NCR, fostering their leadership potential.This year’s theme, Dare to Differ, urged Gen-Z to challenge conventions, celebrate individuality, and lead with courage. Forty prestigious schools participated, with student leaders engaging in thought-provoking discussions and activities designed to sharpen their leadership skills.The day began with an exciting icebreaker where participants sketched stories based on specific themes, sparking creativity and innovative thinking. The summit’s highlight was the insightful keynote speeches by Ms. Bansuri Swaraj and Papa CJ. Ms. Swaraj inspired students to dream big and build the necessary skills to achieve those dreams, while Papa CJ, with his signature wit, encouraged them to break free fromsocietal expectations and pursue true happiness.Interactive leadership activities, including Cliffhanger and the thrilling Scavenger Hunt, challenged students to collaborate and problem-solve under pressure. Lead On! 2024 left participants empowered, ready to lead boldly, and equipped to shape a brighter future.

Sanskrit Diwas Celebrations

In celebration of Sanskrit Week, Class IX Sanskrit students organized a variety of activities and games for middle school classes. These engaging sessions allowed students to experience and appreciate the profound essence of our ancient root language.

Dussehra 2024: Celebrating Victory of Good Over Evil

The school celebrated Dussehra on 8 October 2024 with great enthusiasm. The event began with an opening speech by Vrinda Arora and Prabhtej Singh, followed by a mesmerizing play performed by students of Classes VII and VIII, showcasing key scenes from the Ramayana. A lively dance performance by the school’s cultural group highlighted the diversity of Indian traditions. Principal Ms. Jyotika Jakhar addressed the students, encouraging them to reflect on the concepts of good and evil within themselves. The celebrations concluded with the symbolic Ravan Dahan, where an effigy of Ravana was burned, reinforcing the message of victory of good over evil. The event helped students renew their commitment to the values of truth, integrity, and righteousness.

Confluence: A Gateway to the Right Career

Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, hosted ‘Confluence: A Career Fair’ on 1 October 2024, designed to help students from classes IX to XII and theirparents explore diverse career options. The event featured over 40 universities from both India and abroad, providing detailed insights into career pathways,eligibility criteria, scholarships, and much more. Students eagerly visited various stalls, interacting with representatives to gather essential information and ideasfor their future career paths.The expert sessions were a key highlight, with distinguished speakers sharing invaluable insights. Ms. Jyotsna Bharadwaj, Educationist and Director of EnvisionIndia Eduservices, discussed emerging careers and the paradigm shift in career choices for students of classes XI-XII. Mr. Rajan Bhatia, an admission strategist, offered guidance to students of classes IX-X on acing entrance exams in India and abroad. Neha Malhotra, founder of the International Image ConsultingInstitute, inspired students with her talk on entrepreneurial success, while Ms. Rupali Verma, a seasoned education advisor, guided students on building arobust profile.The fair empowered students to make informed decisions about their academic and career journeys, showcasing their keen interest in gathering information fromvarious universities and career experts. 

Igniting Scientific Curiosity: Foldscope Kits Distributed to Class VI  

On 30 September 2024, Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar took a remarkable step in promoting hands-on science learning by distributing DIY Foldscope kits to Class VI students. The Foldscope, a compact, paper-based microscope capable of magnifying objects up to 2,000 times, is designed to open young minds to the wonders of the microscopic world.   This initiative aimed to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for science by allowing students to explore and observe their environment in ways that traditional classroom settings cannot. The joy and amazement on the students’ faces were a testament to the powerful impact of this tool, which transforms science from theory into a real-world adventure. With the Foldscope, students are encouraged to ask questions, make discoveries, and engage in scientific exploration beyond textbooks, laying the foundation for a lifelong interest in the natural world.

S.O.C.H Members Gear Up for Heritage Walk at Firoz Shah Kotla

On 7 September 2024, the members of the Society of Caretakers of Heritage (S.O.C.H) attended a captivating session with a professional architect and heritage conservation expert, Ms. Nupur Bhatnagar. This insightful orientation aimed to begin training S.O.C.H members to conduct Heritage Walks at Firoz Shah Kotla in the upcoming months. The session sparked a deeper appreciation for Delh’s rich history and culture, preparing the students for their hands-on exploration. With enthusiasm building, the students are excited to apply their knowledge during the upcoming Heritage Walk at Firoz Shah Kotla, further enhancing their learning experience.
