Visit to Russian Centre of Science and Culture

On 30 May 2025, the Diplomacy Club visited the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, New Delhi, to mark International Children’s Day. Students engaged in face painting, interacted with Russian diplomats and were inspired by a session with a UN Youth Leader who highlighted youth-driven peace-building. A screening of the Russian animated film Ognivo offered insight into Russian storytelling. The immersive experience fostered cross-cultural understanding and encouraged students to view themselves as active contributors to global dialogue. The visit proved to be a powerful example of diplomacy in action.

Innovative Learning Through Sport: ‘Connector Cricket’ Workshop

The school organised an engaging 5-hour Project-Based Learning workshop titled ‘Connector Cricket’, exclusively for Math, Science, and Social Science educators. The session was led by  Mr. Abhinav, the session showcased how cricket can act as a dynamic anchor for interdisciplinary projects. Teachers delved into real-life applications i.e. from calculating strike rates and exploring kinetic energy to examining cricket’s colonial past. The workshop empowered educators to build inquiry-based, collaborative learning models while enhancing curriculum relevance. The interactive format ignited fresh classroom project ideas and highlighted sports as a powerful pedagogical tool to enrich understanding and foster deeper student connections.

Power Dressing Session with Dharna Arora

A transformative Power Dressing Session was conducted for Classes X-XII by Dharna Arora, a globally experienced makeup artist and coach trained at the London School of Makeup, on 13 May 2025. Students learned the art of professional presence through dressing, grooming, body language, and communication. The interactive session offered hands-on training in confident walking, handshake etiquette, and posture. Ending with an insightful Q&A, it left students empowered, polished, and better prepared for future career opportunities.

Creating Awareness: Ear Health Session with Dr. Prem Sagar

On 9 May 2025, the Skill Club What to Do When the Doctor Isn’t Around conducted an interactive session on ear health and hygiene with Dr. Prem Sagar, ENT specialist at AIIMS. Students learned about noise hazards, ear hygiene, and early warning signs requiring medical attention. The session ended with a quiz, and each participant received noise-neutralizing ear buds to promote ear protection awareness.

Building Bridges Through Words: A Session on Effective Communication

Students of Classes IV and V attended an engaging session on effective communication on 08 May 2025 as part of a soft skills programme conducted by professional resource persons Professor Harry Bhatia and Ms Cheshta Vashishth from Up Hill Education. The interactive session began with fun ice-breakers and riddles, creating an energetic and inclusive atmosphere. Students took part in various activities designed to enhance listening, speaking, and interpersonal skills. With active participation throughout, the session offered valuable takeaways on the importance of clear expression and confident communication. It was an enriching experience that laid a strong foundation for building essential life skills.

Project Based Learning Session: Marble Roller Coaster

Class VII students participated in an exciting workshop on forces and motion on 30 April 2025, led by Abhinav Singhal. The activity challenged students to design and build their own marble roller coasters using 12 sheets of paper and masking tape. Students learned about the concept of force, its effects on objects, and how to apply it in real-world scenarios. With 1.5 hours to create and test their models, students had to think creatively and work efficiently without the aid of scales or protractors. The project taught students valuable lessons on taking approximations and measurements, embracing imperfection, and the importance of problem-solving skills.

Pratisandhi

Two insightful sessions on Sexuality Education were conducted by the Pratisandhi Foundation in April for students of Classes VI and VIII. The session for Class VI, held on 17 April, addressed puberty, physical and emotional changes, and personal hygiene in an age-appropriate, respectful manner. The Class VIII session, on 23 April, focused on reproductive health, peer pressure, and media influence. Both sessions encouraged open dialogue and student participation, fostering awareness and informed thinking. These initiatives promoted healthy attitudes and responsible understanding among students.

Unleashing Young Potential: tGELF HARMONY 2025

Students of Classes XI and XII were introduced to the tGELF HARMONY competitions by Mr. Deepanshu and Ms. Madhulika from tGELF/JA India on 16 April 2025. They were familiarized with the Company of the Year programme in particular, highlighting what it takes to build and run a student company, what benefits the competition brings and the structure of the same. The winning members of the school’s own company, CigCreate, shared their experience at COYC, and encouraged students to participate. They were also given details regarding the Youth Harmony and Reel to Real categories of the competition. The session was extremely helpful to budding leaders and change makers, helping them find an opportunity to hone their skills.

Happy Teachers: Happy Classrooms

On 14 May 2025, the day began with a streak of happiness for teachers of Classes Nursery to V as they attended a fun-filled and engaging workshop on happiness conducted by Mr. Anit, a sustainability crusader, happiness coach, and strategist with over two decades of international experience. Deeply passionate about working with young minds and enhancing societal well-being, Mr. Anit guided them through a journey of self-reflection and joyful discovery. Through engaging games, Mr. Amit conveyed the value of communication, and teamwork. The importance of small habits like taking breaks in between work and journaling the acts of gratitude took centre stage. Concepts like ‘hedonic adaptation’ were introduced, making the session both insightful and empowering. The session encouraged the audience to pause and consider whether they were truly happy and if they really understood what they needed to feel fulfilled. The workshop helped them understand the importance of aligning their values, managing time meaningfully, setting goals, prioritising tasks, and cultivating positive habits. With its focus on emotional well-being and personal growth, the workshop reinforced the idea that happy teachers create happy classrooms, and that happiness is a practice we can all nurture in our daily lives.

Nurturing Creativity through Filmmaking

From 7 to 9 May 2025, students from Classes IV to XII participated in the Chinh Animation and Filmmaking Workshop, a part of the Chinh India Kids Film Festival and Forum. The workshop provided an immersive learning experience focused on the creative and technical aspects of animation and filmmaking. Through hands-on sessions, students explored storytelling, collaboration, and critical thinking, while enhancing their digital literacy. The event offered a vibrant platform for young voices to express themselves through cinema.
