Cultivating Gratitude: Peer Mentoring Session

On 9 December 2024, the final peer mentoring session of the academic year for  Classes VI, VII, and VIII centred on the transformative power of gratitude. Peer mentors guided students through reflective practices, verbal expressions of gratitude, and journaling techniques. Engaging videos, interactive games like the Gratitude Game, and visual aids enriched the session, highlighting the profound impact of gratitude on personal well-being and relationships. This interactive and meaningful session left students inspired to embrace gratitude in their daily lives.

Exploring Astronomy: Measuring the Earth at Qutub Minar

On 10 December 2024, Class VIII students Parnika Ahlawat and Krish Marwah  participated in an astronomy workshop organised by Space India at the historic Qutub Minar, New Delhi. The workshop introduced students to an ancient yet effective method of calculating the Earth’s circumference using shadow measurement and trigonometry. Using small sticks to represent the shadows cast by Qutub Minar, participants calculated the angle of sunlight striking the Earth, combining mathematical precision with astronomical insights. Additionally, students explored the Sanderson Sundial, enhancing their understanding of timekeeping and celestial observations. This interactive session merged history, science, and mathematics, offering a fascinating learning experience.

Pathways to Pride: Promoting Inclusion at Tagore International School

On 29 November 2024, our students reaffirmed their dedication to greater inclusivity in  society by hosting Pathways to Pride: Creating LGBTQIA+ Support Systems in Schools in collaboration with The Naz Foundation (India) Trust. The event began with an inspiring presentation chronicling the Breaking Barriers campaign’s 11-year journey, highlighting milestones in creating safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals. A workshop led by The Naz Foundation delved into the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ students, the impact of bullying, and practical strategies for promoting mental well-being through empathy and understanding. Interactive activities, including an icebreaker and a Q&A session, provided participants with opportunities to explore concepts like inclusive language and support systems. A brainstorming session with counsellors resulted in actionable strategies for cultivating safe school environments. This impactful event left participants better equipped to create a compassionate and accepting community, reinforcing the school’s commitment to inclusion and equality.

Workshop on Child Protection for Support Staff

On 25 November 2024 the school organized a workshop on child protection under the POCSO Act for the entire support staff, to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students. Led by the Senior School Counselor, Ms. Komal Malik, the session focused on guidelines for maintaining transparency and upholding boundaries in interactions with children. The support staff  were educated on protocols such as avoiding secluded spaces, ensuring visibility, and respecting students’ privacy. Practical scenarios and video resources highlighted the importance of vigilance and reporting concerns to designated authorities. We pride ourselves on having very caring and reliable support staff, and this initiative further underscored the school’s dedication to safeguarding its students and ensuring the safety of every child within the campus.

Tagore International School Participates in Hindustan Times Lit Fest 2024

On 22 October 2024, students from our school had the privilege of attending an enriching session at the Hindustan Times Lit Fest. The event featured an engaging Author Talk by Ms. Sutapa Basu, an acclaimed children’s author, who shared insights on the art of storytelling and the importance of curiosity in writing. Students had the unique opportunity to interact with Ms. Basu, ask questions, and gain valuable knowledge from her experiences, inspiring them to explore new literary horizons. Additionally, Class VI students participated in a Slogan Writing Competition, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm in a fun and competitive atmosphere. The event was instrumental in fostering a love for reading and creative expression among the students. Tagore International School extends its gratitude to the Hindustan Times Lit Fest for this unforgettable experience and looks forward to future collaborations.

Flourishing Creativity: Ikebana Workshop for Parents 

On 11 November 2024, as part of Japan Week, an inspiring Ikebana workshop was organized for parents. Led by Syama Balbir, India’s first Master of the Ohara School of Ikebana, the workshop began with an introduction to the art and philosophy of Ikebana, exploring its deep cultural roots in Japan. Parents then engaged in creating their own floral arrangements, embracing the principles of balance, harmony, and minimalism. This hands-on experience offered a chance to explore creativity while immersing oneself in the mindfulness and simplicity that defines Japanese floral art.

Empowering Parents Through Comprehensive Sexuality Education

On 9 November 2024, a workshop on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) was organised at Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, for parents of students from Classes IX to XII. Conducted by a team from the NGO Pratisandhi, the session addressed essential aspects of teenage psycho-sexual development, providing insights into typical behaviors and common myths surrounding CSE. Parents learned practical strategies for fostering open communication, becoming “askable” figures who create a supportive, non-judgmental environment for their children. The workshop also covered approaches to common teen issues, offering parents confidence in guiding discussions around this sensitive topic. A concluding Q&A session allowed parents to address their queries directly, leaving them with valuable tools to navigate and support their children’s growth effectively.

Cyber Safety Workshops Promote Responsible Digital Citizenship

From 21 to 25 October 2024, a series of cyber safety workshops was organized for students of Classes VI to XII. The one-hour sessions aimed to equip students with essential knowledge about cyber safety, cyber crime, and online hygiene. Key topics included protecting personal information, understanding cyber crimes, and adopting safe practices on social media and other digital platforms. Through interactive activities, students learned how to navigate online risks and make responsible digital choices. These engaging sessions provided valuable insights into maintaining a secure digital presence, fostering a safer and more informed community of young digital citizens.

Empowering Informed Career Choices: A Comprehensive Counselling Session  

Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, organized an insightful career counselling session on 30 September 2024, aimed at helping students make informed decisions about their academic and career paths. As part of the initiative, students underwent psychometric testing, consisting of an aptitude test and an interest inventory. These tests assessed their skills in areas like logical reasoning, numerical ability, and verbal comprehension, while also identifying their personal interests.   The session provided students and parents with detailed, personalized reports featuring easy-to-understand graphs and interpretations. Counselors guided them through subject choices for Classes XI and XII, linking their academic strengths and interests to potential college courses and career pathways. This initiative ensured that students could approach their future with clarity and confidence, making decisions aligned with their unique abilities and aspirations.

Dive into Adventure: Story Session with Mr. Kanav Agnihotri on ‘Super Sharkaru’

On 15 and 16 October 2024, students of Classes III to V  were treated to an exciting story session with Mr. Kanav Agnihotri, the author of ‘The Adventures of Super Sharkaru: The Shark That Flies’. The captivating story follows Super Sharkaru, a flying shark, on thrilling adventures, sparking the students’ imaginations. Mr. Agnihotri skillfully wove in important environmental themes, such as air, water, and space pollution, encouraging the students to reflect on these real-world issues. The session also featured an engaging animation that brought the characters to life , and a fun role-play activity where students acted out scenes from the story. The session concluded with a teaser for the upcoming sequel, ‘Super Sharkaru Flies to the Moon’, leaving the students eager for the next installment in this imaginative series.
