Crafting Your Image: Tips from Ms. Neha Malhotra

Ms. Neha Malhotra, a certified image consultant, delivered an insightful Career Talk for Classes XI and XII on 9 July 2024. She engaged students in a comprehensive discussion about personality development and confidently presenting oneself. Emphasizing the importance of first impressions, she offered valuable tips for maintaining a positive image in social and professional settings. Her interactive approach captivated students, who eagerly participated in hands-on activities. Ms. Malhotra also explained personal branding, highlighting consistency and authenticity. The session was highly motivating, enhancing students’ understanding of image management and personal branding.

New Beginnings – Class XI Orientation 2024

Class XI marks a crucial stage in the academic journey of every student. To ensure a smooth transition from the secondary to the senior secondary stage, an orientation was held on 6 July 2024 for parents and students of Class XI. Ms. Isha Sood, Senior School Head Mistress, introduced the school management and teachers, discussing school rules, including punctuality, discipline and the expected mode of conduct. Ms. N. Saroj, Dean of Academics, explained the examination pattern, promotion policy, planner details, and the option of a sixth subject. She also shared important websites for updates and reference, such as www.cbse.nic.in, www.cbseacademic.in, and www.tagoreint.com. This comprehensive introduction helped students understand their new responsibilities, resources, and expectations, fostering a sense of preparedness and confidence. These sessions are instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition, enriching both the academic and social experiences of the students.

Geostrata’s Round Table with MEA

Our students Sanjana Prasad of Class X and Anika Chauhan of Class XI were invited for a Round Table Conference organized by Geostrata and the Ministry of External Affairs. Delving into the dynamics of global diplomacy and the perspectives of future leaders, the STRATA x MEA Roundtable convened at the Ministry of External Affairs, offered in-depth insights into a wide range of foreign policy issues. The event was marked by the presentation of the ‘India’s Growing Stature on the Global Stage’ report to the MEA.

Empowering Sustainability: Paper Recycling Workshop for  Samarpan Foundation

On Monday, 08 July 2024, our school hosted a workshop on Paper Recycling for the students of Samarpan Foundation. Students engaged in hands-on activities to learn about the practicalities of recycling paper and its environmental impact. The session included a guided tour of our Science Fair, enriching their understanding of scientific principles. This initiative not only promoted sustainability but also fostered a sense of environmental responsibility among participants. It was a rewarding experience that highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in creating a greener future.

From Classroom to Career: Soft Skills Insights by Advocate Kaveri Rawal

Ms. Kaveri Rawal, our alumna who is now an experienced advocate with Asia Law offices , conducted a soft skills training session for students of Classes X,  XI and XII on 15 May 2024. She began by emphasizing the importance of internships in a student’s journey  and the valuable lessons they teach. The session covered essential details on dressing, behavior, and networking, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the corporate world. Ms. Rawal provided detailed insights, explaining the ethos of the professional environment. The students found the session highly informative and felt more empowered for their future endeavors. This training would significantly enhance their educational journey, they said.  

Embracing Diversity : Classes IV and V Reflect on Differences and Inclusion

On 10 May 2024, a workshop led by senior Tagoreans from classes Xi and XII  was organised to sensitize the students in Classes IV and V about discrimination based on caste, creed, origin, and color. Through personal anecdotes and interactive Q&A, they engaged the younger students, encouraging them to share anecdotes and perspectives. The workshop sought to instill a deeper understanding of diversity and inclusivity, emphasizing the need to create a harmonious and equitable society. They understood that ‘Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness.”By fostering open dialogue and empathy, the workshop effectively highlighted the importance of equality and respect for all.

Career Talk on Data Science and Analytics

Mathematics students of Classes XI and XII had a career talk on 7 may 2024 focused on Data Science and Analytics, with  Ms. Krimcy Behrani, a software engineer at Wipro Technologies as the speaker. Ms. Behrani, an expert in the field, provided insights into the expansive realm of data and its significance in today’s highly technological world. During the session, she showcased the power of Power BI visualization charts, illustrating how they can effectively display day-to-day activities using statistics derived from data analysis. Ms. Behrani emphasized the importance of mastering SQL, Java, and Python for excelling in data science, alongside a strong grasp of mathematical concepts. She highlighted the value of utilizing software tools such as SAS, Excel, and Power BI to streamline data analysis and presentation tasks. Additionally, she advised students to pursue certifications, particularly from Google and Microsoft, to enhance their credibility and expertise in the field. Addressing student queries, Ms. Behrani mentioned that while a science background is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite for a career in data science, as it can provide a solid foundation. Overall, the session was a rewarding and enlightening experience for the students.

Careers in Psychology – Unlimited Scope

On 7 May 2024 , a career talk was organized for students of Classes XI and XII, by Ms. Gagandeep,  an  RCI certified clinical  psychologist  with 15 years of experience in the field  and founder of Unique Psychology,. Focusing on careers in psychology, she  explored  various pathways students can pursue after school, both in Indian and abroad universities. Noteworthy fields discussed included forensic psychology, clinical psychology, educational psychology, and neuropsychology. The highlight of the session was the engaging set of  activities  conducted  by the speaker. Graphology activities captured the interest of students, offering insights into personality analysis through handwriting. Additionally, the inclusion of hypnosis added an interactive element, thus capturing the interest of every student. It was definitely a  highly engaging and informative session, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse opportunities available in the field of psychology.

Chinh Workshop for Students – A Spur to Creativity

Chinh India Kids Film Festival and Forum is an initiative to celebrate knowledge, ideas and perspectives by involving children in film making and critical appreciation of good cinema, thus   inviting them to learn and  to think critically.  Our students have always participated with great enthusiasm and this year was no exception.  Chinh Media festival on animation and film making was organised for the students of Classes IV to XII The resource persons for this workshop were  National Award winning  filmmaker couple Meenakshi Rai and  Vinay Rai.  From 2 to 4 May 2024 students  had an exciting opportunity to learn about storytelling, visual effects, and production techniques. One group  made an animated short film  “Fire God” , where they used their own characters, and learnt animation. Another team made a short  movie titled ‘The Bomb’, based on the hoax bomb threat recently faced by students  in Delhi.  ‘Mutant Boy’ was a story of aliens who came to visit our earth.  It was an exciting forum  where they could collaborate, brainstorm and express themselves through the creative medium of cinema. 

Igniting Creativity: A Conversation with Author Deepa Agarwal

On May 3, 2024, students from Classes VII and IX were treated to an engaging author talk featuring Deepa Agarwal. Ms. Agarwal’s eloquent discussion on the intricacies of the writing process, peppered with personal anecdotes and literary insights, enraptured the audience. Throughout the session, students actively participated, posing insightful questions about character development, plot construction, and the journey to becoming a published author. Ms. Agarwal’s infectious passion for storytelling inspired the budding writers, encouraging them to delve into their own creative aspirations. This event provided an opportunity for students to directly engage with an accomplished author, fostering a deeper appreciation for literature and the craft of storytelling.
