From 21 to 25 October 2024, a series of cyber safety workshops was organized for students of Classes VI to XII. As part of the initiative, students underwent psychometric testing, consisting of an aptitude test and an interest inventory. These tests assessed their skills in areas like logical reasoning, numerical ability, and verbal comprehension, while also identifying their personal interests. The session provided students and parents with detailed, personalized reports featuring easy-to-understand graphs and interpretations. Counselors guided them through subject choices for Classes XI and XII, linking their academic strengths and interests to potential college courses and career pathways. On 25 October 2024, members of the many social outreach programmes of Tagore International School participated in an impactful event hosted by the Air Force Family Welfare Association (AFFWA). The team presented the goals of various school campaigns focused on social awareness, including Breaking Barriers, Flawless Flaws, and Saksham, which aim to foster inclusivity and community engagement. The event’s highlight was an inspiring play titled Ehsaas, performed by Team Awaam, the school’s theatre group. The play depicted the life of Lakshmi Tripathi, an influential transgender activist, and was met with enthusiastic engagement from the audience. Celebrating Sportsmanship and Camaraderie On 25 October 2024, the Junior Athletic Meet was organised for students from Nursery to Class V, an event that united students, grandparents, and teachers in a lively celebration of sports. The day commenced with a torch relay led by four top athletes, symbolizing unity and the spirit of sportsmanship. Young athletes participated in relays, obstacle courses, and sprints, showing their enthusiasm and skills. Teachers and grandparents joined in the activities, fostering camaraderie and encouragement. A highlight of the event was the motivational speech by Mr. Shaji Prabhakaran, former FIFA South Central Asia Development Officer, who inspired everyone with stories of resilience in sports. On 25 October 2024, the school commemorated Diwali with a vibrant celebration. The program included soulful bhajan singing, an enchanting dance performance that brought alive the age-old story of Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya, and traditional decorations that illuminated the school. Students enjoyed a lively Diwali quiz that blended wit and wisdom, keeping spirits high. The highlight of the event was a diya-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, followed by an aarti led by teachers and the student council. Principal Ms. Jyotika Jakhar reminded everyone to carry the light of Diwali within themselves, fostering unity andpositivity. Class VIII students participated in an engaging critical thinking activity during their English class using Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats method. The exercise required students to analyze a topic from multiple perspectives by “wearing” different hats symbolizing distinct thinking styles: factual, emotional, critical, optimistic, creative, and process-oriented. This structured approach helped students to refine their reasoning skills while fostering teamwork and effective communication. By encouraging them to consider all angles of a discussion, the activity promoted a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Songs have long been recognized as an effective tool for language learning, and this was evident in a recent English class for Class VIII students. The students engaged in a listening activity featuring songs from the iconic movie ‘The Sound of Music’. On 18 October 2024, the Skill Club students had an insightful session as part of ‘What to Do When the Doctor is Not Around?’ led by Lt Col Sheetal Asija, a periodontist from the parent community. The interactive session aimed to equip students with essential knowledge about handling dental emergencies. Myths surrounding oral health were debunked, and practical tips for dealing with dental issues before reaching a specialist were shared. The students left the session with newfound confidence in managing dental emergencies, ensuring they know exactly what to do when a dentist isn’t immediately available.
On 15 and 16 October 2024, students of Classes III to V were treated to an exciting story session with Mr. Kanav Agnihotri, the author of ‘The Adventures of Super Sharkaru: The Shark That Flies’. The captivating story follows Super Sharkaru, a flying shark, on thrilling adventures, sparking the students’ imaginations. Mr. Agnihotri skillfully wove in important environmental themes, such as air, water, and space pollution, encouraging the students to reflect on these real-world issues. The session also featured an engaging animation that brought the characters to life , and a fun role-play activity where students acted out scenes from the story. The session concluded with a teaser for the upcoming sequel, ‘Super Sharkaru Flies to the Moon’, leaving the students eager for the next installment in this imaginative series.
Hasya Kavi Sammelan – An inter-house poem recitation competition was organised for Classes IX-XII on 12 September 2024 to celebrate Hindi Diwas. Each house had two participants, who had three minutes each to recite a self-composed poem incorporating wit and humour. The theme of the competition was “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat”, emphasising unity and diversity in India. Participants showcased their creativity by incorporating enjoyable jokes while celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage. The event witnessed an impressive variety of performances, each highlighting different aspects of the nation’s unity. The competitors were both entertaining and thought-provoking, leaving the audience in splits of laughter .
