Class VIII students participated in an engaging critical thinking activity during their English class using Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats method. The exercise required students to analyze a topic from multiple perspectives by “wearing” different hats symbolizing distinct thinking styles: factual, emotional, critical, optimistic, creative, and process-oriented. This structured approach helped students to refine their reasoning skills while fostering teamwork and effective communication. By encouraging them to consider all angles of a discussion, the activity promoted a deeper understanding of the subject matter. It was a rewarding experience that inspired collaborative and broadened thinking.
Songs have long been recognized as an effective tool for language learning, and this was evident in a recent English class for Class VIII students. The students engaged in a listening activity featuring songs from the iconic movie ‘The Sound of Music’. The catchy melodies, simple yet meaningful lyrics, and repetitive structures helped improve their listening skills and expand their vocabulary. Beyond language learning, the students also gained a glimpse into the culture of the film’s setting. The classroom came alive as students discussed the themes of the songs and hummed along, making the lesson both enjoyable and educational. This innovative approach to language teaching emphasized the power of music in enhancing comprehension and retention, fostering a lively and engaging learning environment.
On 18 October 2024, the Skill Club students had an insightful session as part of ‘What to Do When the Doctor is Not Around?’ led by Lt Col Sheetal Asija, a periodontist from the parent community. The interactive session aimed to equip students with essential knowledge about handling dental emergencies. Myths surrounding oral health were debunked, and practical tips for dealing with dental issues before reaching a specialist were shared. The students left the session with newfound confidence in managing dental emergencies, ensuring they know exactly what to do when a dentist isn’t immediately available.
On 15 and 16 October 2024, students of Classes III to V were treated to an exciting story session with Mr. Kanav Agnihotri, the author of ‘The Adventures of Super Sharkaru: The Shark That Flies’. The captivating story follows Super Sharkaru, a flying shark, on thrilling adventures, sparking the students’ imaginations. Mr. Agnihotri skillfully wove in important environmental themes, such as air, water, and space pollution, encouraging the students to reflect on these real-world issues. The session also featured an engaging animation that brought the characters to life , and a fun role-play activity where students acted out scenes from the story. The session concluded with a teaser for the upcoming sequel, ‘Super Sharkaru Flies to the Moon’, leaving the students eager for the next installment in this imaginative series.
Hasya Kavi Sammelan – An inter-house poem recitation competition was organised for Classes IX-XII on 12 September 2024 to celebrate Hindi Diwas. Each house had two participants, who had three minutes each to recite a self-composed poem incorporating wit and humour. The theme of the competition was “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat”, emphasising unity and diversity in India. Participants showcased their creativity by incorporating enjoyable jokes while celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage. The event witnessed an impressive variety of performances, each highlighting different aspects of the nation’s unity. The competitors were both entertaining and thought-provoking, leaving the audience in splits of laughter . On 19 October we proudly hosted Lead On! 2024, our 15th annual Leadership Summit, a dynamic platform where the leaders of tomorrow gathered to shape the future. Organized entirely by the school’s Student Council, this event has consistently brought together bright young minds from across Delhi NCR, fostering their leadership potential.This year’s theme, Dare to Differ, urged Gen-Z to challenge conventions, celebrate individuality, and lead with courage. Forty prestigious schools participated, with student leaders engaging in thought-provoking discussions and activities designed to sharpen their leadership skills.The day began with an exciting icebreaker where participants sketched stories based on specific themes, sparking creativity and innovative thinking. The summit’s highlight was the insightful keynote speeches by Ms. Bansuri Swaraj and Papa CJ. Ms. Swaraj inspired students to dream big and build the necessary skills to achieve those dreams, while Papa CJ, with his signature wit, encouraged them to break free fromsocietal expectations and pursue true happiness.Interactive leadership activities, including Cliffhanger and the thrilling Scavenger Hunt, challenged students to collaborate and problem-solve under pressure. To promote civic engagement and electoral literacy, students of Classes IX to XII learnt about the political process in a webinar organized by CBSE. The session aimed to educate students about their rights and responsibilities as informed voters and encourage democratic participation. The webinar offered insights into the electoral process and the importance of ethical behavior while exercising voting rights. By engaging with this resource, students were motivated to understand their civic duties, preparing them to become responsible and active participants in the nation’s democracy. This initiative is part of the broader mission to nurture well-rounded citizens who are not only academically accomplished but also socially responsible and ready to contribute to the democratic fabric of the country.
Students from Tagore International School had an exhilarating opportunity to visit the SPACE headquarters in Dwarka, New Delhi. Representing the school were two students, Vihaan Swarankar and M.Vasanth, both of Class IX-A, who attended an immersive session on ‘Safe Solar Viewing’. The day began with a captivating theory session, where students explored the power of the sun, its layers, solar activity, and the importance of solar viewing precautions. The highlight of the day was hands-on activities, where participants observed the sun through telescopes, counted sunspots, and engaged in fascinating solar experiments. This unforgettable experience not only deepened their understanding of solar science but also fostered lasting friendships with students from other schools.
On 15 October 2024, our school hosted a dynamic workshop and sensitization session for Class IX students in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Led by Mr. Samarth Pathak, Communications Officer (South Asia) and Regional Focal Point (Youth and Education) at UNODC, the ‘RiseUp4Peace’ initiative empowered students to foster peace, justice, and integrity. Through interactive discussions and activities, students explored key issues like mental health, cyber safety, gender equality, and anti-corruption, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 16. Practical guidelines and activities helped them realize their potential to be agents of change in their communities. This initiative strengthens the school’s commitment to shaping future leaders who are socially responsible and motivated to contribute to a more peaceful and just world.
On 15 October 2024, students from both branches of Tagore International School (Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash), part of the Breaking Barriers outreach program, visited the Naz Foundation to engage in an enriching dialogue about the queer community. Led by Mr. Sahil and other community members, the session focused on fostering understanding, addressing societal stigma, and creating safe spaces for marginalized groups. The interaction included personal stories from both sides, collaborative discussions on elevating the cause, and a ‘Superpositivity Exchange’ inspired by Mr. Vickrant Mahajan’s seminar. This visit reinforced our students’ commitment to inclusivity, with future workshops planned to promote greater awareness of LGBTQ+ issues within our school community.
