Senior students conducted a sensitization session for students of Class IX on 25 July 2024, aiming to educate them on the LGBTQ+ community’s history, key terms such as gender identity and sexual orientation, and the challenges faced by its members. The session sought to promote empathy, inclusivity, and allyship through interactive activities, personal stories, and open discussions.Students engaged in various activities designed to challenge stereotypes and foster understanding. The interactive format encouraged students to ask questions and express their thoughts, facilitating a more profound and personal connection to the topic. Additionally, videos regarding LGBTQ+ issues were shown, providing visual and emotional insights that complemented the discussions. The Class IX students expressed their newfound empathy for LGBTQ+ community and explored practical strategies to help their peers. This initiative emphasizes the value of ongoing education and awareness in promoting respect and acceptance for all students, marking a major step towards developing a more welcoming and supportive school climate.
Kathak maestro Pandit Rajendra Gangani held the students of classes IX and XI mesmerized with his incredible mastery over taal, laya intricate footwork and expressive storytelling. The event was organized by SPICMACAY which has introduced students across the country to the best of India’s rich heritage of art , dance, music and more.A renowned dancer and recipient of many awards including the Sangeet Natak Academy Award, Panditji absorbed the nuances of this complex art form from his father, the revered Pandit Kundan Lal Gangani of the Jaipur gharana. He began with a beautiful tribute to Mahadev, which immediately showcased his artistry. He then explained and demonstrated the importance of the taals through a piece in the rhythmic teentaal. The final piece was a beautiful dance depicting the greatness of the Guru through a melodious bhajan. Panditji was happy to answer the various questions from the students and motivated them to explore the rich traditions of Kathak and other classical art forms. We are grateful to SPICMACAY for enabling students to experience the beauty of this aesthetic and traditional dance style.
Project Saksham is one of our student driven campaigns which works for the empowerment of intellectually and physically challenged people. Disha is a signatureannual online event organized by this team, which provides an international platform for differently-abled individuals to participate in a plethora of competitions; namely music, dance, art, craft and photography, to showcase their talent. This year, Disha 7.0 culminated with the prize distribution being held on 19 July and 20 July 2024. An overwhelming response was received with over 300 entries from across the globe. The event was graced by guest speakers from countries such as Pakistan, Canada, the United States, Uzbekistan, Australia, along with the Indian audience. All the entries were highly appreciated by the judges. Certificates of participation and merit were given to all participants and winners. The core team comprising of Tishya Chandok (Campaign President) Prabhtej Singh (Campaign Vice President) Lavnika Nanda, Aradhya Bhola, Aarna Sapra along with all members of Project Saksham were the ones behind the success of this event.
On 24 July 2024, Ms. Shobha Tharoor, an acclaimed children’s author, visited our school to conduct an author talk for students of Class V. Ms. Tharoor read excerpts from three of her popular books: Look before You Leap, A Treasure Trove of Timeless Tales and Raja Ravi Varma. Her eloquence and the vivid descriptions captivated the students and transported them to a world of the imagination. After the reading, Ms. Tharoor opened the floor to questions from the students. The children were enthusiastic and had a variety of queries. She shared that her love for storytelling and reading as a child inspired her to write stories that would spark the imagination of young readers. The session concluded with Ms. Tharoor encouraging the students to read widely and explore their creativity through writing. She emphasized the importance of imagination and the joy that stories can bring into our lives.
Recognizing the crucial role of sex education in fostering healthy and respectful interactions among high school students, a sex-ed session was conducted by the NGO Pratisandhi for Class XI students on 19 July 2024. The session began with discussions on healthy versus unhealthy relationships, helping students identify the characteristics of each. Emphasis was placed on setting and respecting boundaries, crucial for maintaining healthy relationships. Engaging activities and worksheets facilitated a deeper understanding of these concepts. The importance of consent was a major focus, with clear explanations on its meaning and the consequences of its absence. The session also addressed recognizing abuse, violence, and sexual harassment, providing students with vital information on identifying such behaviors and reporting them. This comprehensive approach aimed to equip students with the knowledge and tools to navigate relationships responsibly and safely. An anonymous question-answer round at the end encouraged students to ask their doubts without hesitation.
Understanding science experientially allows school students to grasp concepts more deeply and retain knowledge longer. Hands-on experiences foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills, making learning engaging and relevant to real-world situations. From 15 July 2024, an intensive exploration of various scientific concepts for students from classes VI to XII took place. The event began with a Science Exhibition for classes VI to VIII, where the auditorium buzzed with excitement as students showcased their models based on scientific principles. The audience, including special guests from Samarpan School, were captivated, and every student presented their work with enthusiasm, receiving appreciation from peers, teachers, and the special guests. Students from classes VIII to XI enjoyed the second day, which was filled with lab demonstrations and activities focused on physics principles, chemical bonding, and human anatomy. Highlights included the Angry Birds catapult, an ice cream-making workshop, and engaging games that brought science to life. The excitement continued on the third day as students from classes IX to XII hosted an exhibition featuring working models such as a posture monitoring jacket, an electric rain display, a space gun, and an electric keyboard. Innovations like threads made from moringa and incense stubs from flower waste showcased the students’ creativity and ingenuity. The grand finale showcased extraordinary craftsmanship and scientific prowess by students of classes VI to XII. Classes XI and XII designed a thrilling car racing track incorporating concepts like friction and velocity. Class VII students created a fascinating crime scene activity, teaching peers about forensics. The day concluded with a paper plane challenge, leaving students eager for more science activities. This event highlighted the importance of experiential learning, making science engaging, practical, and immensely enjoyable for all students involved.
Ms. Neha Malhotra, a certified image consultant, delivered an insightful Career Talk for Classes XI and XII on 9 July 2024. She engaged students in a comprehensive discussion about personality development and confidently presenting oneself. Emphasizing the importance of first impressions, she offered valuable tips for maintaining a positive image in social and professional settings. Her interactive approach captivated students, who eagerly participated in hands-on activities. Ms. Malhotra also explained personal branding, highlighting consistency and authenticity. The session was highly motivating, enhancing students’ understanding of image management and personal branding.
Students from the “What to do when the doc is not around” club recently engaged in an enlightening activity focused on immunity booster drinks. Recognizing the significance of fortified health during seasonal transitions, participants enthusiastically experimented with diverse ingredients to concoct nutritious juices and smoothies. The session not only educated them on the benefits of these drinks but also fostered a fun and interactive environment where they enjoyed their creations in the company of friends. This initiative underscores the club’s commitment to promoting holistic health practices among students.
