Joyful learning – Stethoscope Making Activity for Class VII Students

On 8 August 2024, the Science class became an exciting spot  as the students of Class VII engaged in an engaging and educational activity of building their own stethoscopes.  They used simple materials such as plastic tubes, balloons, and funnels to construct functional stethoscopes. Through this activity, they learned how doctors use stethoscopes to listen to the internal sounds of the body, like the heartbeat. The students were thrilled to be able to test  their handmade stethoscopes on each other. Listening to their partner’s heartbeat made science come alive and also reinforced their understanding of the human body, triggering curiosity to learn more. Blending learning with fun,  it left the students eager for more such interactive experiences.

Frequency Modulation – An Electrifying Interschool Celebration of Sound’s Power  

Radio waves sparked an unforgettable journey of connection and storytelling as Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, proudly hosted the third edition of Frequency Modulation—an interschool competition celebrating the vibrant legacy and impact of radio. This year’s event paid tribute to radio’s unmatched ability to bridge societal gaps and unite communities, perfectly aligning with the vision of ‘Vikasit Bharat’—a developed India. The competition featured three thrilling categories: On Air, Rodcast, and Synth-X, judged by the charismatic RJs Sarthak and Naved, alongside esteemed experts Mr. Maithal and Mr. Banerjee. Talented students from 15 schools showcased their hosting prowess and audio production skills, with Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram, claiming the prestigious overall trophy. On Air teams captivated audiences with radio shows on pressing social issues, Rodcast teams pitched cutting-edge podcast concepts, and Synth-X teams delivered mesmerizing original acapella performances. The event was a dynamic display of creativity, technical mastery, and audience engagement.

UNESCO Week Celebration

UNESCO Week was a vibrant celebration of global heritage, dedicated to showcasing and exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Throughout the week, students immersed themselves in the rich history and cultural significance of these iconic landmarks. Classrooms buzzed with excitement as children created impressive models of renowned sites like the Grand Canyon and the Sydney Opera House. Day 1 students took a tour of the models displayed around the school appreciating our rich heritage.Daily announcements included fascinating facts about these landmarks, integrating educational content seamlessly into the school’s routine. Day 2, we saw enthusiastic participation from students, showcasing their knowledge about UNESCO and passion for History.  Library periods were particularly engaging, featuring quizzes designed to challenge and expand students’ knowledge about UNESCO sites. It was an enriching session for the students as they answered variety of questions, ranging from monuments and buildings, natural heritage sites, iconic logos, advertisements and UNESCO World Heritage sites and cities in India and across the world. On Day 3, A session was conducted for students of classes VI- VIII, by Ms. Anoushka Jain, founder Enroute Indian History, where they were briefed about the criteria of selecting heritage sites, what sets them apart, and why they are culturally and architecturally relevant to India’s shared heritage.  More importantly, students were excited to know that Delhi has three of these sites, and they learned about their relevance, architecture, construction and stories behind the three sites. Day 4, Students from Classes VII, VIII and IX experienced the thrill of gamified learning as they competed in exciting games like hopscotch, dash to the finish line, and maze puzzles, making learning a joyful experience. The event aimed to deepen students’ understanding of global heritage through playful engagement. Students had a blast while learning about global treasures. The day was filled with friendly competition, teamwork, and discovery, leaving students with not only knowledge but also fond memories. The innovative approach proved that learning can be both educational and enjoyable, fostering a love for heritage and culture among the young minds.

Inter-House Crescendo Clash (VI-VIII)

The inter-house competition, Crescendo Clash, showcased remarkable musical talent and creativity as gifted performers competed in an exhilarating showdown. Each house presented a team of up to six participants, including up to four vocalists and two instrumentalists. The challenge was to compose an original song on the theme “Viksit Bharat,” incorporating bilingual lyrics in Hindi and English. The competition was fierce, with each team skillfully blending melody and meaning to capture the essence of India’s diverse culture. The event highlighted the participants’ talent and creativity, showcasing their ability to intertwine language and music into inspiring performances. Shanti House emerged victorious, impressing the judges with their harmonious and culturally rich composition. Step Inside the Heart: Class VII Explores the Circulatory System

On 31 July 2024, Class VII students delved into the science topic “Transportation in Animals” through an engaging PEC activity titled “Step Inside the Heart: A Journey Through the Circulatory System.” A large heart diagram was drawn on the floor, representing the pathways through which blood flows in the heart. Students walked through these pathways, simulating the journey of blood as it moves through different chambers and valves. This hands-on approach provided a vivid visualization, helping students understand the dynamics of the circulatory system and the heart’s role in pumping blood throughout the body. The activity fostered a deeper comprehension of cardiovascular functions and encouraged interactive learning. This innovative method effectively bridged theoretical knowledge with practical experience, making complex scientific concepts accessible and memorable for the students.

Class VI Students Learn Mindfulness And Creativity With Zentangle

On 31 July 2024, during their Science class, students of Class VI explored the beauty of nature as part of the Getting to Know Plants module. They engaged in creating Zentangle art using leaves and flowers to form intricate patterns. A meditative drawing method, Zentangle art involves making detailed designs with structured patterns. It has gained popularity for its ability to promote relaxation, mindfulness, and creativity. Through this activity, students learned the importance of observing natural patterns and how to translate them into art. They discovered how mistakes can be embraced and adapted into their designs, fostering a growth mindset. This practice also aided in stress reduction by focusing their minds and providing a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, the detailed work involved in creating tangles improved their concentration and attention. Overall, students found Zentangle art to be a unique and effective way to enhance well-being through creative expression.

Glamour Gala – An Intra-Class Competition for class KG ( July 2024)

Glamour Gala an intraclass fancy dress competition was held for the students of KG on 31 July 2024. The theme was ‘Things in the sky’. The kindergarteners set the stage abuzz in their creative and colourful costumes which were as diverse as a rainbow, cloud and lightning, an airplane, rocket, satellite and many more. They captivated the audience with their bright and enchanting presentations and earned well-deserved appreciation and applause. Character Parade–An Intra Class Competition for Class III  (July 2024)

On 31 July 2024, Class III students participated in an Intra-Class Character Parade Competition, celebrating literature and creativity. They showcased non-living characters from their favorite books, transforming the venue into a lively exhibition of imagination. The competition promoted teamwork and camaraderie, uniting classmates in their passion for reading and storytelling. The day concluded with applause and cheers, recognizing the students’ dedication and creativity, and creating lasting memories of a vibrant literary celebration. Sehpaathi Raas – An Introduction to Our Rich Cultural Heritage

The Saturday Sehpaathi Raas workshop, held on 27July 2024, was a vibrant event dedicated to introducing underprivileged children to the rich heritage of classical dancing and Warli art. We welcomed students from the NGOs Jaagriti and Samarpan, providing them with a unique opportunity to engage in cultural activities that celebrated traditional arts. The workshop aimed to foster an appreciation for these art forms and offer the children opportunities for creative expression. Ms. Peehu Bhardwaj, an accomplished classical dancer, introduced the participants to the intricacies of classical dance forms, while Ms. Sujata Arora, a talented Warli artist, guided them through the traditional techniques of Warli art. The sessions were designed to educate the children about the historical and cultural significance of these art forms, encouraging them to participate and develop an interest in the performing arts. By providing a platform for creative expression and skill development, the workshop inspired the children to explore and appreciate their cultural heritage.

A Celebration of Inclusion and Empathy – Ninaad Funds Presented 

Ninaad, our cultural festival dedicated to celebrating imperfections in the spirit of inclusion, made a significant impact this year by raising over ₹1,20,000 for acid attack survivors.  At a Special Assembly on  22 July 2024, our school had the honour of hosting five survivors from the Acid Survivors and Women Welfare Foundation (ASWWF) and one from the Brave Souls Foundation. The funds, collected through ticket sales and donations from parents during Ninaad 6.0, were presented to these survivors. During the course of  their visit, the survivors shared their powerful stories with our students, creating a profound connection and fostering a deeper understanding of their difficult journeys. Additionally, a podcast was recorded to capture the survivors’ experiences and reflections on Ninaad, aiming to share their wisdom and journeys with a broader audience. This initiative not only enriched our students but also spread awareness and empathy beyond our school community.
