As a school we take pride in being inclusive, multi-cultural and secular. The school is a safe and harmonious environment for every student. A talk on the kind of discrimination faced in Delhi by citizens from the North East was an eye opener for many students who had never thought about this earlier. The aim was to address prejudices and stereotypes, encourage empathy and respect, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of India. On April 12, 2024, a session was held for Classes IX and X students. It commenced with students anonymously documenting their encounters with discrimination. A segment from “Chak De India” was screened, underscoring the importance of acknowledging equality. Traditional clothing from diverse Indian states was exhibited, highlighting the common humanity of those who wear them. Students were dismayed to discover that 77% of North East residents face racial discrimination, often being derogatorily referred to as “chinkies” or “momos,” and questioned about their nationality. The anonymous notes were then revealed, emphasizing that discrimination of any kind is unjust. Many shared their experiences of facing prejudice, concluding the session as a significant stride toward fostering an inclusive and respectful school environment. Through education, empathy, and cultural appreciation, we can collectively build a society that embraces diversity and condemns discrimination.

Education Through Monuments is an exciting new educational initiative spearheaded by Mr Sandeep Sethi, Director (Education) MSMSII Museum Trust, Jaipur. The endeavour was to deepen the understanding of different subjects like Math, Science, Business Studies, Economics, Accountancy, languages, etc. through an in-depth study of historical monuments and architectural sites. The students (from Classes IX, X and XII) learned the application of concepts of force, pressure, sum- angle property, geometry through our chosen monument Rajon ki Baoli at Mehrauli and delved into the history, science, engineering, economics behind its construction and working. The students also penned the lyrics of a song based on the need for water conservation, the importance of Baolis and the story behind Rajon ki Baoli. The song was then set to music and choreographed. The bioscope created by the art students of our school along with their beautiful painting of the Rajon ki Baoli made using the carbon tracing technique was a huge crowd puller despite the presence of more than 30 schools from across the country. The presentation in K.R. Mangalam World School, East of Kailash on 04 April 2024 and in DPS Sector 45 Gurgaon on 05 April 2024 received immense appreciation for their concept clarity, confidence and strong communication and explanation skills.
