On December 21, 2023, the core team of Breaking Barriers had the privilege of engaging in a virtual dialogue with Axis Bank’s inclusion and diversity team. Centered around the theme of ‘Inclusion of the Young,’ the session featured team members sharing insights on cultivating an inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals in both educational institutions and the corporate realm. The session took on a lighthearted and comfortable tone as participants shared personal coming-out experiences and real-life stories. Thought-provoking questions were posed, delving into how the campaign addresses challenges like homophobia from parents or peers. The Axis Bank team offered valuable guidance on supporting LGBTQ+ friends and community members, emphasizing the significance of active, open-minded, and open-hearted listening free from personal bias. This collaborative exchange not only left our students enlightened but also inspired to persist in our endeavors to create a more inclusive and supportive space for the LGBTQIA+ community.
On December 20, 2023, Project Sehpaathi orchestrated a meaningful session with the Pehchaan Street School centered around the theme, ‘How To Be A Changemaker.’ The session featured the esteemed presence of Mr. Akash Tandon, the founder of The Pehchaan Street School, and Ms. Kashish Kehlawani, the Project Director. This interactive exchange aimed to enlighten students about the significance of social work while raising awareness about the challenges faced by under-represented children in our society. Tagore International School Vasant Vihar students participated in the Annual Poster Making Competition at Nehru Planetarium, held on December 4, 2023, in collaboration with ORGAN India and NOTTO. The theme, “Transforming Lives,” prompted students to creatively express the impact of organ donation. Team AWAAM from our school was also invited to present their play ‘Ahsaas,’ fostering empathy and understanding among participants from various schools. The concurrent poster-making competition visually showcased students’ creativity, amplifying the event’s impact in promoting organ donation awareness. Yana Sapra, a Class XIB student, excelled and secured the third prize among 40 participating schools. The event not only encouraged creative expression but also fostered a sense of responsibility toward organ donation within the student community. The day concluded with students enjoying a show at the Sky Theatre, creating a wholesome and enjoyable experience.

An insightful career talk session was organized on 19 December 2023 to generate awareness about the diverse and exciting career opportunities available in the Indian Navy. Our alumni Anuvrat Pandey (2021)who is currently in Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala Kerala took this session for students of Class XI. He shared his personal experiences, shedding light on the challenges and rewards of a naval career. He also spoke about the multifaceted career paths within the Indian Navy, emphasizing the diversity of roles available. From technical positions in engineering and logistics to leadership roles in naval operations, he outlined the broad spectrum of opportunities awaiting those who choose to serve in the Navy . He explained the educational and eligibility criteria for joining the Indian Navy, providing crucial information for aspiring candidates. To inspire a sense of patriotism and commitment, the career talk concluded with a video presentation showcasing the Indian Navy’s impressive achievements and its role in disaster relief operations. Anuvrat’s enthusiasm left a lot of students enthused about this career choice.
On December 20, 2023, the students of Class III engaged in an enlightening session with Dr. Gaurav Khera. Centered around safety awareness, the session proved to be an invaluable opportunity for our young learners to gain essential knowledge on injury prevention, basic wound care, recognizing emergencies, and the importance of seeking help. The event aimed not only to equip students with practical skills but also to instill a sense of responsibility, preparedness, and community safety. Dr. Khera’s hands-on demonstrations provided students with a tangible understanding of dealing with minor injuries, augmenting their comprehension of first aid and real-life applications. The interactive approach contributed to a more engaged and informed group of students. The session underscored the significance of cultivating calm and responsible responses during emergencies, empowering students with the confidence to navigate challenges and take prompt action when required. Dr. Khera’s insights offered each child valuable guidelines on personal safety, reinforcing the School’s commitment to a secure learning environment. In alignment with the quote, “Safety is not an accident; it’s a choice,” the session emphasized the proactive choice of knowledge and preparedness for the well-being of every student.
“Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit,” proclaimed mathematician Stefan Banach. In homage to one of India’s greatest mathematicians, Srinivasa Ramanujan (1887-1920), December 22 is observed as National Mathematics Day in India. Ramanujan, celebrated for his remarkable contributions to mathematics, especially in the theory of numbers, is honored on this day. To acquaint students with Ramanujan’s life and achievements, engaging videos and talks were presented. Following the informative sessions, students immersed themselves in innovative math-based activities. Class VI students created personal birth date magic squares inspired by Ramanujan’s famous magic square. In Class VII, mathematical concepts were integrated with their recent visit to the Qutub Minar, exploring rotational symmetry, line symmetry, two-dimensional shapes, ratios, and more. Class VIII students enjoyed a fun-filled group game, “What’s In My Chit?” challenging each other’s math knowledge. Class IX students delved into the mystery of the Möbius Strip, creating interlocked hearts to visualize symmetry in shapes. This celebration was a joyous tribute to Ramanujan, fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty and power of mathematics among our students.
‘Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life’ said Pablo Picasso. Sanchayan – the Primary students’ annual creative and performing arts fest, based on the theme, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ was presented by the energetic performers of Classes I-V on December 28 and 29, 2023. It was an extravaganza much appreciated by the audience, with varied and entertaining items like The Magic Mirror of Unity, The Hilarious Hat Parade, Quest for the Holy Grail, Puppet without Strings and Holka Polka which showcased the talent of the little ones. The intertwining of poems, dances, Indian and Western vocal songs with theatre received resounding applause. Artwork created by the students during the session was very creatively exhibited for the parents and coupled with an indigenous games zone that included games named Arena, Flappy Bird, Catch the Apple and The Jumping Game. Spin the Wheel, a story game, grabbed the attention of many visitors. The parents left with happy smiles on their faces which reflected their joy at seeing their children demonstrating their skills, confidence and artistic prowess. The famous painter Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist”. With this thought in mind and to encourage each little tot to explore their creative potential, a freehand drawing competition was organized for the students of Nursery in December 2023. The theme was ‘Garden’. Children showcased their prolific skills in drawing and colouring and despite their tender years, their art work was indeed amazing. On December 15, 2023, Project Sehpaathi orchestrated Virtuoso, an online event that illuminated exceptional skills and creativity within students from three NGOs—Donate an Hour, Pehchaan, and Samarpan. With over 30 entries spanning dance, art, and poetry, participants earned First and Second positions in each category, impressing a diverse panel of judges, including both student and adult perspectives for dance and art. Mr. Aakash Tandon, the founder of Pehchaan Street School, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while the Sehpaathi team skillfully conducted the event. Beyond a mere celebration of talent, Virtuoso wielded a profound impact on the community by championing inclusion and providing a stage for underrepresented groups. Acting as a catalyst for recognizing talents from diverse backgrounds, the success of the event harmonizes with Project Sehpaathi’s mission, underscoring the transformative power of education and creative expression.
