Breaking Barriers – 4th Anniversary of sec 377

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Educational Institutions Breaking Barriers celebrated the 4th anniversary of the repealing of Sec 377 on 6th September 2022 by organizing and conducting an Educators Workshop on “Inclusion Matters” – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Educational Institutions. Close to 40 educators  including  counsellors , teachers  and  Vice Principals attended this workshop which was supported by the High Commission of Canada. The session had opening remarks by Mr Colin Shonk, Counsellor and Head of Advocacy Program from the Canadian Embassy, and talks by Atindra, Counselor and Legal Advisor for NAZ Foundation and Kiran, Transgender Model and Actress. As educators are the catalysts of change so the aim of this workshop was to engage educators in discussions on greater inclusion in  classrooms via activities, social experiments, class discussions, art, films, and more. Educators brainstormed ideas, asked questions and took these thoughts back to their schools. We hope that they now work on creating inclusive school policies and create comfortable, safe space for their students and staff in their campus. All the educators gave positive feedback and wanted our campaigners to visit their schools to initiate the Breaking Barriers campaign in their schools. That students conducted the workshop and that lgbt+ guests shared their experiences was what impressed them most. All participants received certificates from the Canadian Embassy and from our school.

National Sports Day  2022 Celebrated in Tagore International

National Sports Day, which is celebrated on 29th August every year, is dedicated to the memory of  renowned hockey player Major Dhyan Chand .  He was known for his extraordinary ball control and goal-scoring feats, in addition to earning three Olympic gold medals, in 1928, 1932 and 1936, during an era where India dominated field hockey. His influence extended beyond these victories, as India won the field hockey event in seven out of eight Olympics from 1928 to 1964. Our school celebrated National Sports Day with much enthusiasm this year, starting  with a speech about Major Dhyan Chand in the Assembly by   Krrish Vikram Jain, the Assistant Sports Captain,  who spoke about the significance of the date and also encouraged  students to inculcate physical activity in their daily routine to keep themselves fit and healthy. Later, we had an exciting  volleyball match between the teachers and the school volleyball team in which the teachers proved to be more sporty than our school team and thus won the match!  For students of Classes III to XII , we had various fun activities throughout the week starting from 24th August to 29th August. The activities included a lot of games like kho-kho, head shoulder knee toe, seven stones, balance the ball, air hoopie, giant tic-tac-toe. We ended the celebrations with a hard fought tug of war between Classes XI and XII. The Sports Department planned and organized these activities and said that sports should be a part of everyone’s life.
