The school auditorium radiated joy with floral arrangements, garlands and smiles as the Graduation Ceremony unfolded for Grade XII students on the morning of January 20, 2024. Commencing with the lighting of the lamp amidst shloka chanting, the event featured Chief Guest Lieutenant General Satish Dua, PVSM, UYSM, SM, VSM (retired Chief of Integrated Defence Staff), presenting personalized citations along with copies of the yearbook titled ‘Reverie’ to the graduating students. The rendition of ‘Graduation’ by ‘Vitamin C’ and the fusion dance on ‘Unstoppable’ by Sia had the audience enthralled, tapping their feet along. The coveted Rabindra Ratna Award for the academic session 2023-24 was conferred upon Vaanya Kalra for her outstanding contributions in both curricular and co-curricular activities. The valedictory speeches by the outgoing President and a student from each section took us down the memory lane, revisiting the highs and lows, common excuses, washroom woes, heartburns, camaraderie, escapades and all through the school years leaving everyone in tears and laughter. On January 20, 2024, Grade XI students at Tagore International School orchestrated a dazzling farewell, a joyous symbol of valediction for their graduating seniors. What transpired was a spellbinding evening of memories, adorned with captivating performances, an extravagant feast, abundant accolades and music to liberate the soul. The school atrium transformed into a cosmopolitan dream, complete with a red carpet that warmly welcomed each 12th grader and their date as they made a captivating entrance, adorned in attire radiating glamour, seamlessly aligned with the night’s theme – the Manhattan Gala. For the departing batch, this glamorous soirée marked a majestic conclusion to their school years, a celebration of camaraderie with mentors and friends amid the Manhattan-inspired splendor. As the grade XI students bid adieu to their seniors, the evening stirred a mosaic of emotions, encapsulating cherished memories and the anticipation of future endeavors.
In collaboration with Spic Macay, Padma Shri Geeta Chandran, a distinguished Bharatnatyam artist, gave a captivating performance for students in Classes VI to VIII at on January 16, 2024. Celebrated for her finesse in Bharatnatyam, Ms. Chandran delivered an engaging lecture-cum-demonstration, seamlessly blending pure dance (Nritya) with expressive storytelling (Abhinaya). Commencing with a soulful invocation to Lord Ganesha, the performance unfolded into a captivating journey featuring a Varnam and intriguing aspects of Krishna Leela. The grand finale showcased a dynamic Thillana, skillfully performed by her senior disciple, Madhura. The lively rhythms, accompanied by live music and vocals, added depth to the entire spectacle. This mesmerizing Bharatnatyam recital was a jubilant celebration of Indian classical dance, presented by a maestro whose artistry continually inspires. A subsequent Q & A session provided students with valuable insights into different facets of this classical dance form. ‘Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life’ said Pablo Picasso. Sanchayan – the Primary students’ annual creative and performing arts fest, based on the theme, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ was presented by the energetic performers of Classes I-V on December 28 and 29, 2023. It was an extravaganza much appreciated by the audience, with varied and entertaining items like The Magic Mirror of Unity, The Hilarious Hat Parade, Quest for the Holy Grail, Puppet without Strings and Holka Polka which showcased the talent of the little ones. The intertwining of poems, dances, Indian and Western vocal songs with theatre received resounding applause. Artwork created by the students during the session was very creatively exhibited for the parents and coupled with an indigenous games zone that included games named Arena, Flappy Bird, Catch the Apple and The Jumping Game. Spin the Wheel, a story game, grabbed the attention of many visitors. The parents left with happy smiles on their faces which reflected their joy at seeing their children demonstrating their skills, confidence and artistic prowess. “A dream becomes a goal, when attitude flames within you, think deep for every thought leads to the goal”….unknown Sports transcends mere enjoyment or victory; it infuses life with joy, ignites our souls, forges profound friendships, stimulates our intellect, and sparks the desire to test our limits. On Wednesday, December 13, the school buzzed with excitement as students adorned their House goal posts, adorned balloons, and hung banners, all resonating with the theme ‘Pixels to Pitches.’ Painted in their House colors, faces beamed with anticipation as mascots stood ready and competitors warmed up. Ms. Bhavna Tokekar, our esteemed Chief Guest, shared her journey from a late-starting powerlifter to holding the world record for a single lift bench-press of 77 kg. Passing the torch, she administered the oath, stressing the vital role of integrating sports into our daily lives. In alignment with our school’s commitment to inclusivity, the day commenced with a unified race for students from Tamanna school celebrating their moments of triumph. This was followed by a race where the visually impaired students showcased their mettle. In the subsequent races our dedicated support staff displayed their fitness prowess in spirited competition. From hurdles to flat races, inter-House relays to high jumps and shot put, each event radiated excitement and fierce competitiveness. The race between the main cabinet and assistant main cabinet engaged the entire school, uniting students in a spirited display of camaraderie and friendly competition. The vibrant atmosphere echoed with the students’ exuberant cheers, further elevated by the crisp commentary delivered by Priyanshu, Soha, Prabhtej, and Tishya. The prestigious JK Sen Memorial Prize, recognizing the Best Sports Boy and Girl in each category, found deserving recipients this year. Nitin Ekka of Class XIIB and Gauri Bansal of Class XIB claimed the honor in the Senior category, while Adarsh Chauhan of VIIB and Aarna Sapra of VIIIA emerged victorious in the Junior category. Adding to the triumph, Shanti House secured the overall trophy for the best House, achieving an impressive hat trick for the third consecutive year. Pragati House earned the well-deserved runner-up position. Beyond the medal standings, the essence of true sportsmanship shone through, emphasizing that victory is not the sole measure of success; gracefully accepting defeat is equally paramount. In the spirit of healthy competition, we believe that everyone who participates emerges as a winner. Following the Biennial, Sports Day 2023 became another cherished memory for the senior school students, showcasing the enduring spirit of camaraderie and athletic excellence. Keeping up the TIS tradition of celebrating all festivals and showing students the beauty of diversity and inclusiveness, Christmas was celebrated with a lot of excitement and energy. A short Nativity play featuring Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the Wise Men, shepherds and Angels brought the age old Christmas story to life for the little ones. Melodious Christmas carols (sung by the school Choir) echoed through the Atrium, bringing the message of joy and goodwill to all. The beautifully decorated Christmas Tree was a unique creation as it was created entirely out of discarded material, particularly empty plastic bottles. The red gold and green decorations all around added to the festive spirit . Little ones from the Primary wing made adorable little Santa Clauses and Angels. The cafeteria too served some special Christmas goodies. This happy start to the Yuletide season created an atmosphere of festivity across the school
Gurupurab, the joyous festival commemorating the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students of our school. The school transformed into an excited space filled with the chanting of kirtan and prayers. The celebrations started with the students of Team AWAAM sharing anecdotes from the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with the primary students. A lively Nagar Kirtan procession reverberated through the corridors of the school with students dressed in vibrant traditional attire who walked with pride and devotion singing hymns from Gurbani. After the Nagar Kirtan, everyone gathered for the Langar Prasad which was made and distributed by the students, demonstrating the spirit of devotion and community. Adding to the festive vibes, the students from the primary wing came dressed in colourful traditional attire and exchanged sweets. By fostering such meaningful experiences, the school aims to shape well-rounded individuals who embrace diversity, lead with compassion, and strive to make the world a better place.
