Yugantar-The Beginning
Fifty glorious years of love, nurturing, dedication and perseverance : this is what encapsulates Tagore International School’s commitment to holistic education. Established in 1972 by Dr Hari Sen, the school has always managed to strike a fine balance between cultural activities, academics and sports, producing students who have been encouraged to think independently and become integrated and compassionate members of society . Tagoreans are leaders and changemakers, and the school continues to proudly uphold Dr Sen’s vision of secular, inclusive, quality education.
The year-long celebrations to mark this milestone were inaugurated on Friday 22 nd July ’22 with a splendid function graced by the eminent diplomat, scholar, author and politician, Honourable Mr Pavan Varma and various other dignitaries. A coffee table book and a video were released . An exhibition of photographs captured keynote moments from the school’s history . Music and dance presented by students both past and present, and nostalgic yet inspirational speeches by various speakers brought the event alive. Among other items, a creative interpretation of Gurudev’s immortal words ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’ through a fusion of dance styles with live vocals was one that received a lot of appreciation.
The Chief Guest Mr Pavan Verma spoke with empathy and wisdom, commenting that Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar is now among the best schools of Delhi in terms of the calibre of its students , and that the school motto ‘Aham Yogya Asmi’ ( I am Worthy) is a befitting one where students are worthy of excellence, perseverance, fearlessness, and of being good citizens. Retired teachers, ex-students, parents and other well wishers shared their memories and their joy at
being reunited on this occasion. The school has a series of exciting events in the pipeline for the year ahead.
